On Saturday morning, our monitoring services started to report unusual high memory usage on our webservers. On 03:07 CET several processes we're automatically killed in order to maintain system integrity. From that moment, the webservers we're unable to function properly, causing a general system outage. Our engineers started to work on the problem not long thereafter. The cause of the high memory usage was eventually attributed to the Excel import module. Disabling this module was not an option, so we had to resort to reconfiguring memory usage strategies. On 08:00 CET, we implemented a new memory strategy, causing memory usage to decrease back to normal values. We rebooted our webservers and their service resumed at 08:07 CET.

Due to several spikes in memory usage on our webservers, we experienced a system outage and customers were unable to access TestMonitor. We have scaled up our services and implemented additional system logging to monitor this issue.
